Mr. McClung
I’m a 8th grade teacher at Woodland Jr. High located in Fayetteville, Arkansas. At Woodland I teach social studies, Arkansas History, AVID, and coach cross country in the fall and track in the spring. I’m originally from Mountain View, Arkansas and have lived in Arkansas my entire life. I received my bachelors in health and physical education from Arkansas Tech University and received my masters in educational leadership at the University of Arkansas. I’m entering my fourth year of teaching and have taught at Dardanelle Public Schools (Arkansas) and McDonald County Schools (Missouri). I’m a very avid supporter of technology in the classroom and try my best to implement technology as much as possible in my everyday instruction.
When I’m not teaching I enjoy many hobbies. I’m a HUGE sports fan; I enjoy watching the Arkansas Razorbacks, Minnesota Twins, and Team USA Soccer. I also spend a lot of time running and playing various other sports.
I’m also a big music fan. Some of my favorite bands include Lucero, The Hold Steady, The Black Keys, and Drive-by Truckers. I also really enjoy watching movies. A short list of my favorite movies include Stranger Than Fiction, Pulp Fiction, American History X, Cinderella Man, The Departed, Little Miss Sunshine, American Gangster, and Fight Club.
Everyday I try my best to bring high energy to my classes. I do my best to keep students engaged through a variety of teaching strategies that focus centrally around peer interaction. I believe that it is hard for every student to learn from traditional teaching methods (eg. notes, lecture, and homework nightly). I try my best to keep things as fresh as possible and FUN for my students.
I encourage all visitor to browse around our class blog and check out the variety of media that we have available, and as always, please feel free to leave us a comment….we ALWAYS enjoy hearing from our audience.
“There is so much joy in what we do, and I thank you for being here to share that joy with us.”
- Gregg Finn, The Hold Steady

I hope that I maintain the same passion for teaching that you have! You seem to really love it, as well as your students! I love your outlook on homework and your goal is for students to LEARN. Very refreshing!
